57: DotA 2

Note: This is not intended to be a proper review, I do not have all of the time in the universe to learn this game. What it is about is the first week of DotA, which will either hook you or throw you off utterly. These are my experiences.

Monday

A mysterious stranger passes me a DOTA invite and scarpers. I do not know the motives of this person but they are presumably benign. What the hell, I’ve seen an increasing proportion of my TeamSpeak channel playing this, can’t hurt to join in. I install it.

ADVENTURE SANDWICH TRIPLE

It’s been a quiet month and a half at The Challenge ™, with the unfortunate realities of work being pretty tough curtailing my ability to play games for hours and hours and write about them in a sort of formulaic way for hours and hours. I had a few games played but not written up, and I thought I’d bundle them all together in this immense and exciting single update.

There are sensible reasons for doing this, chief amongst them being the fact that these three games all tread over the same well-travelled path of the three to four hour indie adventure game template. Two are by Telltale (I have nearly defeated you, Telltale Everything Pack!) and one isn’t. If you fancy getting involved in this interactive buffet of reviews, try and guess which one is not Telltale. Write your answer down in a sealed envelope and send it to me, and I’ll tell you if you’re right.

53: Torchlight 2

I’m not dead, but I am working hard alas, so there’s not been much updates. Once again I quested forth to write a really long joint review thing, with Hentzau and Sinny. Thanks guys!

INTERIOR: A well-lit tavern. The sound of quaffing and carousing fills the air, along with the twangs of some unmentionable stringed instrument. The camera focuses in on one table to reveal three men deep in discussion. Observing the noble cut of their clothes, the fine pleating of their beards and the ostentatious jangle of their chains and jewellery, one would suppose these gentlemen to be talking of matters of great import, of the rise of kingdoms or the fall of grain prices. We zoom in further, to reveal they’re…talking about Torchlight 2.
